As a slight diversion, I don't know if its a fait accompli or still just a proposal, but apparently if you have a maori name, you are to be automatically be placed on the maori electoral roll, unless you make the effort to write in and request to be placed on the general roll. It is the stated intent, that this will ncrease the number of maori politicians
