My opinions on matters of the day that, generally, have pissed me off. Being described as a 'Surly Curmudgeon', by those who meet me on a good day, I have a poor regard for the human species. This is my place for my free speech- not bloody yours. Crap under your own rock.

Vigilantes
Let's try to get this right.
You are NOT a vigilante when you shoot the scumbag trying to rob your shop.
You ARE a vigilante when, finding out he got home detention for robbing your shop, you and a few lads go around and do a Black & Decker arthroscopy on his knees.
Now journalists- the dictionary is the big heavy book currently being a a doorstop.
More bloody laws!
"Gangs should be viewed as the equivalent of terrorists, South Australia's Premier Mike Rann said in Auckland today.
The Government is considering legislation to ban criminal gangs in the face of a growing methamphetamine trade and gang activity..."
Sounds tempting and I actually agree with the Terrorist label applied to gangs, having had to deal with this subhuman trash on a daily basis.
However, I'm skeptical when this comes up close to an election. It sounds like a typical 'Tough on Crime' bit of posturing with no real intent to follow through.
There are plenty of laws on the books for dealing with gangs. These should be applied at every opportunity- and the police should be resourced to do so. They need a hard core in-your- face branch who specialize in stamping hard on recidivist offenders. These offenders should expect to be picked up every time they fart in public!
Now I make a point of saying 'recidivist offenders' not' gangs'.
I don't trust the curent government to define a gang. I suspect that means every group other than the labor party to them...

What does it take to get this dirtbag back in jail!
"Convicted killer Bailey Junior Kurariki has been back in court again.
Kurariki appeared in Manukau District Court on Friday, after his arrest for alleged breach of parole, the Herald on Sunday reported today..."
What does this shit-head have to do to get recalled- kill somebody?
Oh- riiiiiiight...
Nail his arse to the wall!
They won't though- some limp-dick judge will give him a slap on the hand with a soggy bus ticket. It's not so serious when you are safely on an over-padded chair behind the bench and it's not your fat arse spiraling in!
Then a law will be passed banning lasers...
Corruption
While I haven't found enough proof to be more specific, I have seen some mighty dodgy stuff over the years, especially in local politics.
Incompetent consultants hired after a history of cost over-runs and shoddy work. Preferential treatment given to contractors. Council's own tendering processes over-ridden. Work not put out to tender- the list goes on and on.
A hell of a lot of smoke for a non-existent fire.
Back when I was in the army, we spent a lot of time and effort trialling equipment. Our results were inevitably ignored and other equipment was purchased. What exactly was the point of evaluating it? Could it be that the stuff they brought was assembled at great expense in a marginal electorate?
It probably is not as bad as some parts of the world where graft is just a fact of life and part of everyday business. That's no reason to start thinking WE are squeaky clean.
Sunday Funnies
One of my readers sent this in:
The seven dwarfs always left to go work in the mine early each morning.
As always, Snow White stayed home doing her domestic chores.
As lunchtime approached, she would prepare their lunch and carry it to the
mine.
One day as she arrived at the mine with the lunch, she saw that there had
been a terrible cave-in.
Tearfully, and fearing the worst, Snow White began calling out, hoping
against hope that the dwarfs had somehow survived.
'Hello!...Hello!' she shouted. 'Can anyone hear me? Hello!'
For a long while, there was no answer. Losing hope, Snow White again
shouted, 'Hello! Is anyone down there?'
Just as she was about to give up all hope, she heard a faint voice from deep
within the mine, singing,'Vote for Winston Peters - Vote for Winston Peters
Snow White fell to her knees and prayed, 'Oh, thank you, God! At least Dopey
is still alive.

Another bullshit new law called for.
"People drunk in public should be fined as part of a crackdown on binge-drinking, police and the hospitality industry say.
Hospitality Association chief executive Bruce Robertson said it was unfair that pubs could lose their liquor licences and have staff fined for serving drunk patrons while there was no penalty for people drinking to excess.
"I would like to see people fined for being drunk in public. It is now socially unacceptable to drink and drive - we need to make it socially unacceptable to be intoxicated in public..."
Fuck off back to under your rock, you prat! Can you not see you are being a total hypocrite here?
The problem is not being drunk in public- it's being offensive and disorderly and there are existing charges to cover this. Pissing and puking on doorways, fighting and being destructive or abusive- these are acts that should land you in the local drunk tank.
A spartan concete cell made for ease of cleaning with a fire hose. Here you enjoy the company of the other disorderly inebriates. Depending on your actions previous, you may be staying on to talk to the judge on Monday.
It's your right to get pissed to beat the band.
It's your responsibility to make sure this doesn't impinge on the rights of others.

Stress and Tension
I have a better idea.Pound the head of the fucker that is causing the stress in the circle until it turns completely red!
Especially when the turd responsible is a third-rate rimjaw so-called council engineer. What is it with councils- especially small ones- that attracts these pathetic losers in the game of life? The sort of livestock molesters that would wear grey shoes if you could still buy them!
The retards around these parts couldn't design a kindergarten playground without the project going totally tits-up!
Idiots one and all!

Our Banana Republic
Primate Threat Displays
"...Flaxmere College pupil Rachel Walker said the fight, which attracted an estimated 200 young people, had been pre-arranged between pupils from her school and Hastings Boys High School at Flaxmere skate bowl on Tuesday.
Speaking at the the scene of the brawl yesterday, she was matter of fact about the reason for the confrontation. "It's basically girls, territory, colours and gangs."
Flaxmere College had the Bloods and Hastings Boys were Crips, she said..."
In my day fighting was a one-on-one over some dispute, real or perceived between the two parties. As often as not the two parties got over it and put it behind them.
These morons don't even have the imagination to come up with their own gangs- they have to ape the crap seen on video nasties. Going by the lack of deceased knuckle-draggers, they can't even get that aspect right.
All this was was simply a primate threat display, as seen on Discovery and National Geographic. A pack of twits acting up to a large audience egging them on.
"...Rachel said the trouble was that the district was too small. "All you can do is steal, rob, drink and smoke to fill in the time..."
Cretin- if you believe that load of nihilistic bollocks you are indeed doomed to the fate you have decided on!

Dumbass dog owners
"A seven-year-old Hastings boy has undergone surgery after being mauled by his mother's pitbull terrier cross dog.
Police said the boy suffered severe lacerations and a large chunk was torn from his right arm..."
I'm more than convinced that the sort of idiots that own these bloody dogs are incapable of figuring out that they are NOT pets. I think they they are as much in need of neutering as their mutts.
It's not like this is an isolated incident and I wonder how many happen that don't reach the news.
And as for the new laws regarding these animals, micro-chipping and so on- what a waste of time, effort and our money. As we said it would be.
Every time there is an attack, there are a few crocodile tears shed, the dog gets a bullet and WE via ACC pick up the tab for the victim's treatment (or burial)
The dog owners are in the same moral postition as a person leaving a loaded firearm in easy reach of children. They should recieve the same sort of penalty that the firearm owner would recieve if little Johnny found the shotgun and shot his sister...

That's right- block my blog!
GOOD.
That is how it should be. The workplace is not the time for goldbricking downloading porn, selling office supplies on Trade Me, reading blogs, newspapers or looking at teenage nymphettes Bebo sites.
BUT- is the (Double)Standard and suchlike considered time-wasters or 'important messages to all NZ'rs'?
As they used to say on Eurotrash- place bets now!
It's worse than that- he's brain-dead, Jim!
As the party hoardings spring up- like dog turds on a freshly hosed footpath, one wonders why they are needed. Surely voters already know all what parties are out there and what they stand for! [Insert Tui ad here]Are the swinging voters actually swayed by an airbrushed photo and a slogan? (apparently yes)
Now I see the importance of colour- in particular red, blue and green. It necessarily follows that if they are swayed by a photo that may or may not resemble anyone, that they are so frickin' thick that they need a colour to identify to!
As is done in these third world countries where they tick the logo- democracy for dummies taken to the extreme.
To MY way of thinking, the voting papers should have a (short) multiple choice section where the voter has to correctly identify, say, five main party policies or principles of the mob that they are voting for.
A wrong answer and your vote is binned.
After all, if you don't know WHY you are voting you shouldn't be bloody well allowed to!
Go back to your frickin' Playstation and leave voting to the big folks!

Trying to avoid the return to surfdom
Visit the UK blogs and get a look at where another term or two of liarbore could easily take us- scary stuff!!
I found this article over at The Devil's Kitchen and found a familiar theme:
"The modern Conservative Party is in fact Blair’s party resurrected. They are exactly the same. They will pose and posture and do nothing to alleviate the restrictions and controls imposed on us all by the Brown Gorgon, and the Tiny Blur before him. Things will not stay the same when the Tories take over. They will get worse. The Left know this, which is why their opposition to the Tories is nothing more than a few vague insults. The Left are happy to let the New Blair come back.
There is no longer a Conservative party in this country. There are no longer any discernible differences between the three main parties at all. They all want to add more laws, more control, more power to their unelected thugs.
I was going to end this with ‘No, I won’t vote Tory’ but there’s no need.
There is no Conservative party. Not any more.
All we have at the next election is a choice of which EU commissioner is going to run this island. Our only choice is the face of the man who implements the EU state laws.
The only way out is NO VOTES for any of these parties. Vote for a minor party. Any one, you choose. You must vote, and you must vote for anyone on that ticket other than these three.
If any of them get back in, the jackboots will be marching down your street before Election Night Special is over.
Get them out. All of them. There is no other hope for the UK now."
I have been playing the same tune. Get away from the current two horse race.
But of course this won't happen- that would be too much for the sheeple to take on. I can sympathize with them wanting liarbore out reinforcing their way of entrenched 'thinking'.
We are going to have a change of faces, but I suspect the song will remain much the same.
I'm waiting for a commitment to bin liarbore's legislative cluster-fucks, but won't be holding my breath. The only ones promising this are Libertarianz.
Meanwhile, Over at New Zeal, Trevor Loudon has article explaining why a vote for Act is not a waste of time.

You chose to live on a friggin' island
"Waiheke commuters will demand "fairer fares" from ferry operator Fullers and Auckland Regional Council at a public meeting at Ostend at 2pm tomorrow afternoon..."
You chose to live on a trendy island. Suck it up.
No- Tasers SHOULD be used in prisons
Tasers could be used in prisons
"The Government is considering policy changes that would allow police to use tasers in prisons, but arming prison guards with the stun guns is unlikely, Corrections Minister Phil Goff says.
This week two officers were badly beaten by five inmates at Rimutaka Prison. The men were discharged from hospital and are recovering at home.
The assaults sparked calls for prison officers to be armed.
Damned right.
The Corrections Department is already undertaking a project to assess what extra protection staff need. One option under consideration is armed response teams.
Adequate staffing would be also be useful. As would be running the High-Medium units like high security units with the shit-heads locked down most of the day and only allowed to exercise a couple at a time. Not half a frickin' wing at a time!
But a spokesman for Mr Goff today said any decisions around arming prison officers had to take into account the possibility guards' weapons could be used against them.
You stupid fuck- we- when I was in that job- wanted pepper spray, spring batons and tasers or stunners- Non-lethal gear because us lowbrow types at the sharp end figured that out all by ourselves!
We wanted firearms nearby and readily available- not needing to go through four layers of bureaucracy before getting permission to use them. Even the soft-cock Swedes go armed when transporting crims!
For that reason it was unlikely guards would be armed with tasers...
IDIOTS! this is exactly what Tasers are made for! Give me a Tasering over a whack with a steel bar anyday!
There is Schnauzer in the Schnitzel !
They have a carbon footprint the size of a Toyota Corolla and are considerably juicier!
I had no trouble finding recipes for dog- there were none for small Toyota's.
Tommorow we will look at vegetarian cooking.
First- shoot a vegetarian...

An idea...

Over at Old Holborn's blog, he talks of a plan to take a stroll on November 5th. He will be recognised by being dressed as above.
I thought that it might be fun to wear the same outfit, but a few days later on the 8th.
Now to find such an ensemble!
