Less likely to happen than Time Travel

Every five years or so, we are compelled to fill out census forms.

OR ELSE.

Strikes me that for the price of a few pages more, they could actually achieve something from this exercise in compulsion.

Like a couple of pages of referenda questions every five years. Theoretically voted on by all, not just those who voluntarily get of their arses to do so. To get on the pages, they would have to meet the current criteria and we would be saved the enormous expense of having a  referendum for a particular issue.

Tis idea should get about as far as a tissue-paper cat being chased through Hell by an asbestos dog....

Of course it has no chance--government is about the exercise of power for the benefit of the chosen few, not good governance for the benefit of all New Zealanders.
