Thought for Today

"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws."

-Ayn Rand

This certainly is the case when looking at the Building Act 2004 regarding Certificates of Compliance...

The Building Act!!! You can't even put up a piece of trellis over 2m without permission. You might remember I blogged about a local couple trying to get support from far and wide to stop their neighbour subdividing. I wrote to the local paper about it and have provoked a couple of stingers back today. Nasty pro-developer ACT candidate and all that. But they never realise that having ceded the principle of private property rights you start getting prepostoruos impositions like the diabolical Building Act requirements.
