We have this Backwards

Gated communities are becoming more popular, but I can't help think that we have this the wrong way around.

We need to put the fences and gates around the worst communities. The gates would be a good place to put the local police station, too.

In my area, most of the police calls are to a block not much more than 500m on a side.

Ring-fence those fuckers with concertina so we don't need to aspire to an enclave with automatic gates and a security fence.

I have recently moved back to New Plymouth from the paradise I was in down Murchison way.
I note with interest two things that have been done to the ghetto that was/is Marfell.
They have bulldozed the double units in Discovery Place that sheltered the worst of the scrotes that provided so much of our bread and butter policing, and they have extended the suburb to take in a better class area of Westown - presumably in an attempt to lift the reputation of the swamp.
A set of stocks set outside the courthouse and utilised regularly would go a long way towards crime reduction round here...
