Soft-cocks need not apply here

I read this and thought of an episode from years ago.

In my army days, grenade throwing was voluntary, as it was considered high-risk.

Of course we all looked forward to grenade day! Fuck the danger!

I well remember on day on the way to the range, the OC stood up on the bus and gave the official party line about this activity being voluntary.

He then continued with the non-PC bit that anyone who didn't want to play with high-explosive and steel WAS FREE TO FUCK OFF IMMEDIATLY ON OUR RETURN, AS HE DIDN'T WANT ANY LIMP-DICk SOLDIERS IN HIS COMPANY!

There were no takers, even the girls who, strictly speaking, were not meant to take part!

When shari'a law is introduced, comment like yours will be a flogging offense. The first time.

voluntary grenade practice??
You jest. Surely.

Sounds like it was voluntary in the sense that if you didn't, they'd beat the living crap out of you otherwise :)

As for those Muslims not handling alcohol, good heavens, maybe the rest of the staff need to form another religion, some can't handle vegetables, some can't handle plastic, turn the place into a circus, then lets see how much management can bend.

It was non-compulsary, but the humiliation would have been unbearable!

What unit were you in? It sure as hell wasn't vountary where I was.

But then people who got the runs about stuff going boom were't generally queueing up for the RRF units.

You haven't lived till you've done the urban drills.

Pin, kick, throw... or was it kick, throw, pin... no wait I'll get it...

Important safety tip, kick too hard and the door bounces back knocking Mr Grenade back into the street.

He is not our friend when this happens.

Late seventies, someone got their guts blown out and they went all soft on it for a while.

And Murray Hudson got a GC for it and our instructors were very happy to show us where it happended too. Yay 7WnHB.

The problem being the control tower was offset and they couldn't see into the throwing bay.

I couldn't help noticing that both bays were well peppered with grenades going off in places that seemed to be NOT outside.

Bottom line is its a dangerous occupation and people who get all pale and fainty should look at being cubicle rats.
